Maria Di Fiore has been visiting India since 2010. From her first visit to the country, she fell in love with it! She loved the smells, the culture, the food, and the people. It felt like her soul’s home. During her visit, she was shocked at the amount of suffering that still lurked the streets. She would visit orphanages to help purchase products they needed and interact children.
Later when she moved to India she became even more involved in different organizations and learned the heartbreaking truth about prostitution and how many little girls are kidnapped and locked into brothels only to be called prostitutes. She heard the stories of rapes and seen the fear in every parent’s voice when deciding to let their daughter go out and play or to a friend’s home.
She also took note of environmental issues including the terrible air pollution that made it impossible for her own daughter to continue living in India during the winter months. It is from these experiences and more that she returns to India every summer to conduct her swim classes and donates 100% of all profits to various NGOs currently only in the Delhi NCR area.
Water Town Swim School’s mission is to become the largest provider of infant and toddler water safety and water development classes in India to provide the highest level of quality to children whose parents can afford such elite educational opportunities for their brain development, and at the same time, put the money back into the city and community that those children and other less economically privileged are in to make the world a better place, one community at a time.
Disclaimer: Water Town Swim School is currently not currently legally setup as an NGO so there is no tax write offs as of yet. This is just one mission, of one mom, trying to make the world a better place for her daughter, all daughters, and all humans.
